Introduction
The Department of English is one of the largest and oldest departments at the University of Southern Punjab, Multan. Established in 2010, the department has since evolved into a centre of academic excellence committed to promoting study of English language, literature, and linguistics. At the Department of English, we aim to provide students with strong analytical skills, communicative power, cultural understanding, and critical thinking that are crucial for academic accomplishment, character development, professional growth and success in life. Our strong faculty is our forte as it is a team of highly qualified and professionally trained teachers. The expertise of our faculty covers all branches of English Studies literature, linguistics, and applied linguistics. We impart knowledge through cutting-edge pedagogical strategies and technology assisted methodologies. The department offers a range of academic programs at graduate and postgraduate levels that are designed to meet the educational needs of a diverse student body. The programs offered by the department are: MPhil English, BS English, BS English (2.5), and ADP English. The department has consistently attracted admissions in all the graduate and undergraduate programs and we are hosting around 1000 students hailing from across the country.

The mission of the Department of English is to provide an innovative educational environment that is challenging as well as flexible and supportive for the young research scholars. The programs offered at the department are designed to provide quality teaching and meet the challenges that our graduates are likely to face throughout their professional careers and enhance fundamental and applied research. Dr. Saleem Akhtar Khan
I am a PhD in English with specialization in literature and an HEC approved supervisor. Currently, I am leading the Department of English, University of Southern Punjab (USP), Multan. My professional career at the university level spans more than a decade. I have the privilege of working as a teacher and, also, holding administrative offices at various HEC recognized universities of the country. During my tenure at University of Sialkot, I worked as an Associate Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Head, Department of English. I also worked as an Assistant Editor, NUML Journal of Critical Inquiry (JCI) during my service at National University of Modern Languages, Islamabad. Besides, I have a literary translation on my credit as a co-translator that has been published by a prestigious national institution, Pakistan Academy of Letters. The areas of my teaching, research, and supervision include postmodern critical theories, postcolonial studies, existentialism, contemporary fiction, discourse studies, modern and Victorian novel, literature in translation, literary representations of trauma and terror, comparative literature, and war literature.
