M.Phil Islamic Studies
Introduction
The MS/MPhil in Islamic Studies is structured in accordance with the HEC Graduate Education Policy 2023 to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of Islamic thought, culture, and history. This program aims to equip students gain a deep understanding of Islamic theology, ethics, law, and philosophy, as well as the historical development of Islamic civilizations. The program emphasizes the importance of understanding the social, political, and cultural contexts of Islam, promoting a broader awareness of the diverse Muslim communities around the world. Students will develop rigorous research methodologies applicable to the study of Islamic texts and contexts, enabling them to engage with both classical and
contemporary scholarly works. The curriculum encourages critical engagement with contemporary issues facing Muslim communities, including interfaith dialogue, secularism, and modernity. The program fosters a global perspective on Islamic studies, addressing topics such as diaspora communities, globalization, and the interactions between Islam and other world religions.
Career Prospects
There is a wide array of opportunities in government and private sectors available to Islamic Studies graduates, including teaching, Lectureship, Sharia Advisory, Sharia consultancy, as well as employed as a research assistant in various research firms.
NOC
For M. Phil Islamic Studies program NOC is granted by HEC Pakistan.
Eligibility Criteria
a) An undergraduate degree (level 06 qualification) in the field of Islamic Studies is the eligibility
requirement for admission in the MS/MPhil Islamic Studies.
b) Candidates having Shahadat-ul-Almia equivalence are also eligible to apply for MS/MPhil
Islamic Studies program.
c) In addition to the basic eligibility, the admitting university is further required to conduct a
rigorous admission test as an eligibility condition for admission to the program, with a passing
score of 50% (OR) accept the GRE/HAT General/equivalent tests, with a passing score of 50%.
The admitting university may also set minimum eligibility scores (above 50%) as per the
screening, admission and merit calculation criteria approved by its statutory bodies.
